Liberty put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Illini West Chargers by a score of 9-6. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 11-2 win the Chargers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.
Chandler John was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. John was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Andi Mixer was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Camdyn Ormond, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Liberty pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Illini West, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will host Augusta Southeastern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
