Two dominant s in Connor Purcell and Theo Wilson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Steinbrenner Warriors will be playing at home against the Armwood Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Steinbrenner has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Armwood will arrive with seven straight wins.
On Friday, Steinbrenner came up short against Largo and fell 34-21. The Warriors gained 176 more yards on the day, but it was the Packers that made the best use of them.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rylen Dutka, who threw for 349 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 33 yards and one touchdown. Jaydon Page was Dutka's top target, picking up 132 receiving yards and one score.
Even if they lost, Steinbrenner's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Purcell refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Meanwhile, Armwood got themselves on the board against Sickles on Friday, but Sickles never followed suit. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 49-0 victory over the Gryphons. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Armwood's win came from a few key players Steinbrenner will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Allonzo Williams, who rushed for 57 yards and one TD on only five carries. Desean Sharrieff got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Armwood didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Sickles to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. The team can thank Larry Warren for the heroic effort on defense: he. Armwood wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 61.5%.
Armwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kallen Martinez and Sharrieff. Martinez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Steinbrenner's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Armwood, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Steinbrenner was taken down by Armwood 62-3 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Warriors were down 35-3.
