Basketball Game Preview: Riverside Chargers vs. Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades

Riverside hasn't had much luck against Chambers/Wheeler Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Riverside Chargers are taking a road trip to face off against the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Riverside is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They fell 42-35 to Fullerton. One positive for the Chargers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite their defeat, Riverside saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tessa Weltruski, who posted 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Weltruski, who put up nine points.

Meanwhile, Chambers/Wheeler Central played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 54-20 loss at the hands of West Holt. The contest marked the Renegades' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Riverside will have to contain Ella Moses as she made an impact in Chambers/Wheeler Central's last game. She had nine points.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Riverside beat Chambers/Wheeler Central 40-28 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverside since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
