Basketball Recap: Troup County Tigers vs. Mary Persons Bulldogs
Troup County won the last time they faced Mary Persons and Sheniyah Philpot did her part to make sure it happened again. The Tigers came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 63-54 on Friday thanks in part to Philpot, who almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Troup County's points.
The team also got some help courtesy of Madiyln Pennington, who posted six points and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zoey Shannon, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 15 boards. Shannon continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jonleah Johnson was another key player, going 8-for-14 en route to 19 points and five rebounds.
