Basketball Recap: Lyla Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Christian Community over Lake Ridge Academy

Christian Community was the 37-27 winner over Lake Ridge Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals on Thursday.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lyla Miller, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Joey Arnold was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Lake Ridge Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lena Foltin, who shot 57% from the field on her way to 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Foltin has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Zaya Battur, who earned 15 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Christian Community's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lake Ridge Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Community will host Heritage Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Ridge Academy, they will welcome Horizon Science Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
