Softball Recap: Upper Cape Cod RVT Has No Trouble Against Mashpee

Upper Cape Cod RVT won the last time they faced Mashpee and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rams were the clear victors by a 25-1 margin over the Falcons. That looming 25-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rams yet this season.

Taysia Lopes was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Upper Cape Cod RVT got a massive performance out of Rosalie Neville, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Neville a new career-high. Kenley Thomas was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs.

Upper Cape Cod RVT has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.6 runs over those games. As for Mashpee, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coming up, Upper Cape Cod RVT will be playing in front of their home fans against Old Colony RVT at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Rams have won three straight at home, while the Cougars won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Mashpee, they will square off against Carver at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
