Baseball Game Preview: Grady Bronchos vs. Eunice Cardinals

The Grady Bronchos will be taking part in a tournament against the Eunice Cardinals at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Grady will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Mescalero Apache on Friday. Grady was the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over Mescalero Apache. The Bronchos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Eunice was able to grind out a solid victory over Ruidoso on Friday, taking the game 5-1.

Fernando Serna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Dyson Lord was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Luis Zamora also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Grady is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. Eunice's victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
