Watertown is 1-9 against Macon County since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Watertown will welcome Macon County at 6:00 p.m. Watertown will be strutting in after a victory while Macon County will be coming in after a loss.
Watertown took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Cannon County. Considering the Tigers have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayla McGuire was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. McGuire was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Wood, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Rachel Seabern was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Watertown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannon County only managed six.
Meanwhile, Macon County didn't have quite enough to beat Clay County on Tuesday and fell 4-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.
Watertown pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Macon County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Everything went Watertown's way against Macon County in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Watertown made off with an 11-2 win. Will Watertown repeat their success, or does Macon County has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
