Basketball Recap: Mason County Central Comes Up Short

Mason County Central was the 38-28 winner over Onekama when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Mason County Central Spartans fell just short of the Onekama Portagers by a score of 57-54 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Portagers are ranked 147th).

Mason County Central's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Onekama, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Mason County Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 40-38 loss against Covenant Christian on the 11th. As for Onekama, they are taking a road trip to square off against Benzie Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
