Baseball Recap: Rootstown Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Rootstown barely beat Mogadore the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rovers blew past the Wildcats 12-2 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Rovers, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Rootstown pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Mogadore, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rootstown will take on Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something the Rovers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mogadore, they will face off against Norton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
