Softball Game Preview: Ledford Panthers vs. Montgomery Central Timberwolves

The Ledford Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Montgomery Central Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ledford's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Montgomery Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Friday, Ledford didn't have quite enough to beat Central Davidson and fell 6-5.

Emma Tesh made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season. Alana Herrera was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Montgomery Central was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They came up short against North Davidson, falling 10-0. The Timberwolves have struggled against the Black Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Montgomery Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annabelle Spivey, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Ledford's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Montgomery Central, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Ledford's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Montgomery Central, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Ledford continue to outrun the ball?

Ledford took their victory against Montgomery Central when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
