Basketball Recap: Lincoln County Comes Up Short

Lincoln County lost against Lake Oconee Academy back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lincoln County Red Devils took a 46-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Oconee Academy Titans.

Despite the loss, Lincoln County still got an impressive performance from Janiah Norman, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. What's more, Norman posted three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. India Wright was another key player, putting up four points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

Lake Oconee Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mary Claire Mccommons led the charge by dropping a double-double with ten points and 11 boards. Mccommons is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ansleigh Padgett, who had 14 points and five rebounds.

Lincoln County's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Lake Oconee Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Lincoln County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-46 victory against Greene County on the 14th. As for Lake Oconee Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 56-51 defeat against Washington-Wilkes on the 14th.
