Basketball Recap: Corona Comes Up Short

If Corona was riding high fresh off their 75-37 takedown of Santa Rosa Academy on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Corona Panthers came up short against the Ramona Rams on Tuesday, falling 97-74. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Ramona got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Troy Terrell out in front who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Terrell is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Cary Moore, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.

With the defeat, Corona broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-7. As for Ramona, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Corona Panthers challenge the Paloma Valley Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ramona, they will face off against Edgewood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ramona is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.4 points per game this season.
