Football Recap: Jorden Mattress and Dax Allen Pace Pendleton Defense

With a playoff win on the line, Pendleton rose to the challenge on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Broome Centurions 24-21.

Pendleton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jorden Mattress and Dax Allen. Pendleton is undefeated when Mattress posts one or more interceptions, but 3-5 otherwise. The Bulldogs got some further help from Trent Garner: he made 22 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Broome's loss came despite strong showings from Brayden Simpson and Tyqwon Booker. Simpson rushed for 114 yards and two TDs on only 15 carries, while Booker rushed for 176 yards.

Pendleton now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Broome, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Pendleton will square off against Powdersville on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games. Broome does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
