Homestead and Milpitas are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. Homestead will square off against Milpitas at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Milpitas took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Homestead, who comes in off a win.
On Saturday, Homestead earned a 7-4 victory over Hillsdale. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Clay Bussey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has become a key player for Homestead: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. Bussey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Andrew Sun was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Homestead is undefeated when Sun posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise.
Homestead hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Milpitas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 11-2 to Mountain View.
Milpitas saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Chavez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Ian Ostrander also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Homestead pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Milpitas, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Homestead skirted past Milpitas 1-0 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Homestead repeat their success, or does Milpitas has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
