Basketball Game Preview: West Side Roughriders vs. Weequahic Indians

The West Side Roughriders and the Weequahic Indians will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Monday, West Side slipped by Newark Central 70-69. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Roughriders.

Meanwhile, Weequahic posted their closest win since January 30th on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Science Park, sneaking past 58-55.

West Side better keep an eye on Riyahd McDonald. He was instrumental in Weequahic's win, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. Those 19 points gave McDonald a new career-high. Tasir Barnes was another key player, putting up 13 points along with five boards and three steals.

Weequahic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Weequahic's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for West Side, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything went West Side's way against Weequahic in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as West Side made off with an 81-55 victory. Will West Side repeat their success, or does Weequahic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
