Basketball Recap: Montgomery Comes Up Short

If Montgomery was riding high fresh off their 89-28 takedown of Vincent Memorial on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Aztecs received a blow on Saturday as they fell 65-48 to the Mission Bay Buccaneers. The Aztecs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Defeat or not, Montgomery got some senior leadership from Xavier Guerrero and DK Montgomery. Guerrero almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards, while Montgomery went 5-for-10 en route to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Dereck Beltran was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Montgomery's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Montgomery will challenge La Jolla Country Day at 2:10 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mission Bay, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Santa Margarita at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
