Basketball Recap: Hannah Prickett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fountain Central over Lafayette Central Catholic

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Fountain Central couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights on Saturday, falling 53-30. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Knights are ranked 36th).

Fountain Central's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hannah Prickett, who posted five points and six boards. Prickett is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Halen McBride, who had six points.

Even though they lost, Fountain Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Fountain Central's loss dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.
