Basketball Recap: Lawrence Comes Up Short

Lawrence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 67-40 loss at the hands of the Cassopolis Rangers. The Tigers were probably out for revenge after losing 67-39 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ayden Gillam was a one-man wrecking crew for Cassopolis as he posted 30 points and five rebounds. Those 30 points gave Gillam a new career-high. Lucas Williams was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to three steals and three blocks.

Lawrence's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13-1. As for Cassopolis, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bangor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cassopolis, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Bloomingdale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cassopolis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Bloomingdale likes a good challenge.
