Zack Szypczak was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Phoenix Shapiro and Alex Sturm did most of the damage at the plate: Shapiro went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Sturm went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Shapiro has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Gilbert's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Hartsville by a score of 5-4.

Hilton Head Island's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Gilbert, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9-2.
