Baseball Game Preview: Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans vs. Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles

The Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans will square off against the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-3 to Park Tudor.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Guerin Catholic and Covenant Christian meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Warriors. Considering the Golden Eagles have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Tate Troxell looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Guerin Catholic's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 8-10 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Guerin Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ben Canada, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Canada has become a key player for the Golden Eagles: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-11 otherwise. Nolan Ratcliff was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Guerin Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They are 6-3 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Guerin Catholic back to even at 12-12. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they dropped their record down to 13-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
