Volleyball Recap: Thornton Fractional North/Thornton Fractional South Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Thornton Fractional North/Thornton Fractional South came into Thursday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Evergreen Park Mustangs on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Meteors have posted since April 3rd.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Thornton Fractional North/Thornton Fractional South got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 18-25, 25-17.

Yahir Silva paced Thornton Fractional North/Thornton Fractional South's offense, picking up 12 kills. Silva got some help from Luis Hernandez and his 14 assists. Silva was also solid from the service line: he led the team with seven aces.

Thornton Fractional North/Thornton Fractional South's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Evergreen Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
