Softball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Village Christian's Winning Streak

Village Christian dropped their record down to 8-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 8-1 to the Heritage Christian Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-4 back in March.

Leah Mosley was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was her first of the season.

As for Heritage Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

On Heritage Christian's side, Brooklyn Mireles made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Mireles has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tatum Tassio, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Coming up, Village Christian will welcome Oakwood at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders are facing the Owls at the right time seeing as the Owls are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Heritage Christian, they have already played their next matchup, a 12-0 loss against Valley Christian on the 24th.
