Softball Recap: Bauxite Drops Season-High Score on Morrilton

Bauxite scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Morrilton Devil Dogs by a score of 9-8. The Miners were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Devil Dogs earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

Bauxite got a good showing from Bianca Battistone, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off five hits. Battistone has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Zoey Hicks was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma King, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

Bauxite's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Morrilton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5-1.

Bauxite will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Morrilton at 5:00 p.m. on April 1st. As for Morrilton, they will head out to face off against Russellville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
