Softball Recap: Danvers Comes Up Short

If Danvers was feeling good fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Melrose last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons fell 10-7 to the Masconomet Regional Chieftains on Wednesday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chieftains apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Lila Flynn was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Briley Keezer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Danvers now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Masconomet Regional, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Danvers will challenge Newburyport at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Clippers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.2 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Masconomet Regional, they will face off against Swampscott at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
