Basketball Recap: Kenyon Dowl's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Independence over Rosa Fort

It was a proper cat-fight when Independence faced off against Rosa Fort on Wednesday. The Independence Wildcats lost to the Rosa Fort Lions on the road by a 62-44 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-68 back in December of 2024.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenyon Dowl, who posted 14 points. The dominant performance gave Dowl a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Tarrell Wilson, who put up seven points and six boards.

Independence has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. As for Rosa Fort, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

Independence has already played their next game, a 57-53 victory against Ashland on the 23rd. As for Rosa Fort, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-38 defeat against Coahoma County on the 24th.
