Basketball Game Preview: St. Joseph Christian Lions vs. Rock Port Blue Jays

The St. Joseph Christian Lions will square off against the Rock Port Blue Jays at 8:15 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Joseph Christian comes in on four and Rock Port on six.

Last Friday, St. Joseph Christian didn't have too much trouble with Albany as they won 59-41.

Meanwhile, Rock Port was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Northeast Nodaway 70-20. Rock Port has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 28 points or more this season.

St. Joseph Christian better focus on containing Jack Meyerkorth and Corbyn Jakub as the pair were huge in Rock Port's win. Meyerkorth went 7 for 13 on his way to 19 points and seven steals, while Jakub dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards. Meyerkorth is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Ellis, who posted four points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Rock Port smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

St. Joseph Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Rock Port, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

St. Joseph Christian couldn't quite finish off Rock Port when the teams last played back in November of 2024 and fell 77-75. Can St. Joseph Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
