Basketball Recap: Schalick Cougars vs. Gloucester City Lions
Schalick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 63-44 bruising from the Gloucester City Lions. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in January of 2020.
Gloucester City was led to victory by Keegan Cohan and Ryan James. Cohan went 8 for 20 on his way to 21 points, while James went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points along with five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.
Schalick's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Gloucester City, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Schalick will venture away from home to square off against Penns Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gloucester City, they will head out to challenge Haddon Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gloucester City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season.
