Preview: Osmond/Randolph Hawks vs. Lutheran-Northeast Eagles

The Osmond/Randolph Hawks will square off against the Lutheran-Northeast Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

After a string of three wins, Osmond/Randolph's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Stuart by a score of 40-38.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sophie Gansebom, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Keli Aschoff, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, Osmond/Randolph smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. This was only their 12th loss (out of 17 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Meanwhile, Lutheran-Northeast suffered a tough 57-36 loss at the hands of Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] on Friday. Lutheran-Northeast was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-14.

Despite the defeat, Lutheran-Northeast got a solid performance out of Delaney Rose-hancock, who scored 11 points. Kealy Ranslem was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Osmond/Randolph's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Lutheran-Northeast, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last nine games, which is still a better percentage than their 4-17 record this season.

Monday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Osmond/Randolph have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Lutheran-Northeast, though, as they've been averaging only 6.3 rebounds per game. Given Osmond/Randolph's sizable advantage in that area, Lutheran-Northeast will need to find a way to close that gap.
