Baseball Game Preview: Spring Creek Gators vs. Beddingfield Bruins

Spring Creek is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Beddingfield a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Spring Creek Gators will be playing at home against the Beddingfield Bruins at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Spring Creek lost 16-9 to Goldsboro on Thursday. Even though they lost, the Gators' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Camden Jones was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off ten hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Spring Creek: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rylan Kornegay made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Landon Hines was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Beddingfield's offense. They came up short against Princeton on Thursday, falling 29-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Bruins' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Beddingfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Spring Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
