Softball Recap: Shamokin Area Indians vs. Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes
Shamokin Area had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 5-11 to make it four. They lost 9-3 to the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hurricanes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
AUTUMN KEHLER was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. KEHLER was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
KEHLER wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was AVA HUGHES, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for Schuylkill Haven, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
On Schuylkill Haven's side, Teagan Wehr was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Wehr's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ally Becker, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Coming up, Shamokin Area will welcome Williamsport at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Schuylkill Haven, they will venture away from home to take on Weatherly at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
