Softball Recap: Mcadory Has No Trouble Against Bessemer City

McAdory put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They blew past the Bessemer City Tigers 17-0. Considering the Yellowjackets have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Mitchell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, McAdory got a massive performance out of Payton Yarbrough, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Yarbrough has posted over her last nine contests. Another player making a difference was Josie Mahaffey, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

McAdory was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive games.

McAdory is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bessemer City, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-6.

Coming up, McAdory will head out to square off against Calera at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bessemer City, they will be taking part in a tournament against Tuscaloosa Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
