Softball Recap: Glenn Grizzlies vs. Hays Hawks
Glenn lost against Hays back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 4-2. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Maddy Butler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those hits were her first of the season.
On the hitting side, Fuego Garcia was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Bella Loredo Awmiller also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Glenn's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Hays, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Glenn will take on rival Cedar Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hays is set to challenge their familiar foe Liberty Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
