Softball Recap: Heritage Takes a Loss

Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 22-17 to the Merritt Island Christian Cougars. Even if the Panthers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Alyssa Medina led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bryce McCauley, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Merritt Island Christian, their record is now 4-5.

Heritage and Merritt Island Christian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Heritage (ranked 415th) will meet Space Coast (ranked 189th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Merritt Island Christian will challenge Satellite at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday down 211 places (379 vs. 168).
