Softball Game Preview: St. Anthony Bulldogs vs. Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles

St. Anthony is a perfect 10-0 against Brownstown/St. Elmo since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bulldogs will host the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. St. Anthony has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Anthony is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Newton on Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 16-2.

Ady Rios made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Schultz, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Brownstown/St. Elmo brought some dynamite into their most recent match. Everything went their way against Ramsey on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-2 victory. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

St. Anthony's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Brownstown/St. Elmo, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-9.

St. Anthony took their victory against Brownstown/St. Elmo in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 23-1 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
