Baseball Recap: Knoxville Catholic's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Knoxville Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Central Wildcats, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fighting Irish have posted since February 14th.

Tyler Slatas looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alex Ditmore, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. Nick Turner also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Knoxville Catholic's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-7.
