Baseball Recap: Italy Takes a Loss

Italy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 15-14 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hubbard Jaguars. Even though they lost, the Gladiators' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Tristan Camacho made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Copeland, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Italy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Italy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Hubbard, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-6.

Italy has already played their next matchup (against Itasca), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Hubbard, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Jaguars duke it out with the Cougars at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hubbard has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
