Baseball Recap: Sultana Takes Down Royal in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Sultana rose to the challenge on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Royal Highlanders 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sultans.

Sultana saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Ruiz, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Sultana pushed their record up to 22-3-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Royal, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 22-7.

Coming up, Sultana will face off against Loyola at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Sultans 3.5, the Cubs 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Royal does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
