Softball Game Preview: New Caney Eagles vs. Langham Creek Lobos

For the second straight game, New Caney will face off against Langham Creek. The Eagles will challenge the Lobos at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

New Caney heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came up short against Langham Creek, falling 6-0. The Eagles have struggled against the Lobos recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

For Langham Creek's part, Karli Challburg was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Challburg has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Izabella Amato-Ramirez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Sydney Foster, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.

Langham Creek hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Langham Creek's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for New Caney, their loss dropped their record down to 21-13-2.
