Basketball Recap: Portage Takes a Loss

Portage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 74-63 to the Reedsburg Beavers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Beavers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 81-58 back in January.

Despite the loss, Portage still got an impressive performance from Aidan Warfield, who made all 8 shots he took for 25 points. The dominant performance gave Warfield a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Brody Kayartz, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 13 points.

Portage's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Reedsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.

Portage and Reedsburg could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. Portage will challenge Mount Horeb at 7:15 p.m. on Friday down 407 places (416 vs. 9). Similarly, Reedsburg (ranked 262nd) will meet McFarland (ranked 74th) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
