Basketball Recap: Apple Valley Snags 16th Victory in Last 18 Games

Apple Valley won the last time they faced St. Paul Central and things went their way on Saturday too. The Apple Valley Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the St. Paul Central Minutemen 77-74. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Minutemen are ranked 53rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Apple Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. St. Paul Central's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apple Valley will square off against Lakeville North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Paul Central, they will welcome River Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Paul Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 matchups -- so hopefully River Falls likes a good challenge.
