Windsor Charter Academy takes loss despite strong efforts from Cassidy Curry and Morgan Kimmi

Recap: Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds vs. Highland Huskies

After a string of three wins, the Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Highland, falling 68-32. Windsor Charter Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-17.

Morgan Kimmi and Cassidy Curry certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Kimmi dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Curry scored seven points. Kimmi has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Highland was led to victory by Mary Jones and Briza Flores. Jones dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds, while Flores scored 23 points along with six assists and five steals. Jones is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbie Martinez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Windsor Charter Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Highland, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Windsor Charter Academy on the road again on Saturday and play against DSST: Cedar at 1:00 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (DSST: Cedar is ranked 215th, while Windsor Charter Academy is ranked 201st). As for Highland, Highland and Platte Valley will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Platte Valley has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2.
