Basketball Game Preview: Grand County Red Devils vs. Wayne Badgers

The Grand County Red Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Wayne Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Grand County's tournament run continued when they took on Carbon on Saturday. The Red Devils were dealt a 46-12 defeat at the hands of the Dinos.

Grand County used a three-pronged attack on offense: Sophia Munger, Alondra Morquecho, and Danica Hirschfeld posted three points each. Cadence Bowden held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Wayne's strategy against Monticello on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Badgers blew the Buckaroo out of the water with a 56-15 final score. The Badgers haven't had any issues with the Buckaroo recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Wayne's win came from a few key players Grand County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Timber Wood, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave her a new career-high. Madi Jacobson was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Wayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Grand County's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Wayne, their record is now 2-0.

Grand County suffered a grim 61-38 defeat to Wayne when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
