Baseball Recap: Oswego East Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Oswego East ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Bolingbrook Raiders by a score of 8-5. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won seven in a row.

Oswego East got a great performance from Carter Davis as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, Davis posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Dominic Battista and Jacsen Tucker did most of the damage at the plate: Battista got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Tucker got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Battista is becoming a predictor of Oswego East's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-15 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Carter Rapp, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Oswego East's victory bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Bolingbrook, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14-1.

Oswego East will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
