Volleyball Recap: Papillion-LaVista Takes a Loss

Papillion-LaVista suffered their biggest defeat since September 9th on Monday. They came up short against the Elkhorn South Storm, falling 3-0. The Monarchs have struggled against the Storm recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Papillion-LaVista took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-22, 25-23.

Faith Wiechman paced Papillion-LaVista's offense, picking up 14 kills. Wiechman got some help from Mia Torchia and her 24 assists. Logan Hickey controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Elkhorn South got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Averi Scardina out in front who had six digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Scardina a new career-high.

Papillion-LaVista's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Elkhorn South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.

Papillion-LaVista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Lincoln East on the 26th. As for Elkhorn South, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Duchesne on the 26th.
