Soccer Game Preview: Piner vs. Santa Rosa

The Piner Prospectors will take on the Santa Rosa Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Piner's last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Santa Rosa will have to contend with a Piner squad hungry for a victory, something the team hasn't seen since December 5. Neither Piner nor Montgomery could gain the upper hand on Thursday so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. That draw made it four straight for the Prospectors.

Meanwhile, Santa Rosa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Maria Carrillo. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

With that draw, Piner's record moves to 2-1-5. As for Santa Rosa, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5-1.

Piner skirted past Santa Rosa 1-0 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Does Piner have another victory up their sleeve, or will Santa Rosa turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
