Volleyball Recap: Kai Perkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Desert Ridge over Highland

Desert Ridge lost against Highland two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Jaguars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Desert Ridge started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-23.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kai Perkins, who had 22 digs and three assists. Perkins has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Demore, who had five digs and three aces.

Camryn Thruston was the offensive standout of the match as she had eight digs and six assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in September. Kendall Mosley also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Desert Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 19-11. As for Highland, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-9 record this season.

Desert Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Queen Creek on the 28th. As for Highland, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Gilbert on the 28th.
