Basketball Recap: Chesnee Eagles vs. Liberty Red Devils

If the Chesnee Eagles were feeling good off their 49-28 takedown of the Greer Middle College Blazers last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Chesnee took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils on Friday. Chesnee was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, Chesnee still got an impressive performance from Pearl Holloway, who shot 5-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Dunn, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Chesnee dropped their record down to 4-21 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.7 points per game. As for Liberty, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chesnee will square off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
