Baseball Recap: Forrest Snags 13th Win in Last 16 Games

Forrest barely beat Cannon County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rockets blew past the Lions 12-2 on Tuesday. The Rockets not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 16-0).

Reid Gentry spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kason Fuller was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Branham Haynes, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.

Forrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannon County only posted an OBP of .269.

Forrest has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cannon County, they dropped their record down to 9-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Forrest will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
