Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Lafayette

Lafayette waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Biloxi Indians as they made off with a 14-2 victory. Considering the Commodores have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Mabry Eason was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Braleigh Crowe was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Zanieya Booker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

Lafayette lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Biloxi didn't launched any home runs.

Lafayette pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Biloxi, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.

Coming up, Lafayette will venture away from home to square off against Hancock at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lafayette's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Hancock's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Biloxi, they will challenge Lafayette at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
